West Michigan tornadoes leave multiple injuries at mobile home park, damage FedEx facility

>Severe thunderstorms have swept through southern Michigan, spawning multiple tornadoes and causing significant damage in their path.

**Multiple Injuries in Mobile Home Park Hit by Tornado:**
Around a dozen residents of Pavilion Estates Mobile Home Community in Pavilion Township, just outside Portage, were injured in Tuesday's storms. One woman was reportedly trapped inside her decimated home. Nick Armold, Portage's director of public safety, stated that emergency personnel would work through the night to ensure all residents are accounted for and no one remains trapped.

**7 Structures Destroyed in Branch County:**
A tornado originating from St. Joseph County destroyed seven structures, mostly homes, in Sherwood Township, according to Branch County Emergency Manager Tim Miner. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or serious injuries reported.
**No Serious Injuries in Portage:**
Officials in Portage confirmed no serious injuries following the reported tornadoes that damaged several residential and commercial buildings on Tuesday night. In a 10 p.m. news release, Portage officials advised residents to remain sheltered and off the roads to allow access for first responders.

**Whitmer Declares State of Emergency:**
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for several counties in Southwest Michigan following the storm. Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, Branch, and Cass counties were included in the declaration, according to a release from the governor's office.
